HARALD A. WILTSCHE
Philosopher

I am a phenomenologist of science. What interests me is how bodily, socially and historically situated subjects gain knowledge about the world by relying on means as diverse as thought experiments, models or scientific instruments.

I am Full Professor and Head of Research at Linköping University, Sweden. Prior to that I was Assistant Professor at the University of Graz, Austria, Recurring Visiting Researcher at the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, and Post Doc researcher at the University of Toronto. For a full CV, look here.

I also produce electronic music under the moniker
Har Allt Quintet. My music can be found on all major streaming services.

I will be a Visiting Professor at Stanford University during winter and spring 2026. Besides teaching a graduate course at Stanford with Tom Ryckman, I will be teaching another graduate course at San Francisco State University with Arezoo Islami.

Arezoo Islami and I have signed a contract with Cambridge University Press to write the volume "Phenomenology of Natural Science" for the "Elements in Philosophy of Science" series.

I will act as the editor of the Oxford Handbook of Phenomenology of Science. The Handbook will feature fifty chapters and will give a comprehensive overview of the relations between phenomenology and science.
